Improving Business Engagement and Consumer Outcomes through Redesign of Maine’s Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP) System

Maine VR has tried different approaches to strengthening the capacity of its Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP) system with the primary goal of providing consistent statewide access to quality employment services for VR clients. When outcomes fell short of expectations, Maine worked with the JD-VRTAC to analyze its data and explore options that other states have tried with CRPs. Vocational Rehabilitation and Business Relations: Preliminary Indicators of State VR Agency Capacity

 

State vocational rehabilitation agencies (SVRAs) have been developing business relations capacity for decades, as part of a dual-customer approach. The literature to date explores “demand-side” strategies in VR, but little is known about what infrastructure is being built to sustain demand-side approaches.

The purpose of this study was to describe SVRAs’ efforts to build capacity in business relations through current policies and practice, staffing and organizational structures, marketing and outreach, and other related strategies.
