The National Index: A Big Picture of Paid Work Experiences
This National Index was created with a goal to identify apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, internships across the nation. The main criteria used during the search were the following: a) must be paid work experience; b) must involve a business partnership; c) must provide development/support of participants; d) must involve a career pathway and e) must have some evidence of successful outcomes. Information on the programs in this Index was derived from internet searches and snowball sampling.
In addition to the regional programs listed below, many national programs are available through national and international labor unions. To find out more about apprenticeship opportunities through labor unions for each state, it is advised to contact the local chapter of the national union or the local department of labor in training- which often partners with the unions for recruitment.
